    Olivier Lortholary is Professor and Chair of the Department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases at the Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades, Paris, France. He is also Section Head for Invasive Fungal Infections Faculty of 1000, part of the Infectious Diseases Faculty of the Institut Pasteur, Paris, France, where he serves as Deputy Director of the National Reference Center for Mycoses and Antifungals. Professor Lortholary serves as Co-director of the International Postgraduate School of Medical Mycology at the Institut Pasteur. Professor Lortholary received his medical degree from the Paris University VI, France, in 1990 and was awarded a PhD in Mycology in 1999 at the Institut Pasteur. He is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of North America and of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases(ESCMID). He is also a founder member of the European Fungal Infections Study Group of the ESCMID. He has contributed to several clinical trials and numerous translational research projects as an Investigator and also as Study Director, and acts as Expert for the 2013 French Ministry of Health HIV Guidelines. Professor Lortholary has authored over 495 referenced publications and three books, and has participated in many plenary sessions at international microbiology and infectious disease congresses. His key research interests include the pathophysiology, innovative diagnostic strategy and new therapeutic approaches of fungal infections in immunocompromised and neutropenic hosts, and in transplant patients, cryptococcosis, mucormycosis and other infectious diseases. He is a member of the 2009 ECIL Mucormycosis Guidelines, the 2010 IDSA Cryptococcal Guidelines Experts Panel, and the 2012 ESCMID Candida Guidelines, and Co-coordinator of the 2013 ESCMID Rare Yeasts Guidelines.
