Carolynn Thomas Jones

      Carolynn Thomas Jones, DNP, MSPH, RN is Executive Director of the Mycoses Study Group Education and Research Consortium.  She previously served as the Director of the NIAID Mycoses Study Group from 1990 – 2000.  She completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Alabama (UAB) School of Nursing with a concentration on clinical research operations and an MSPH in Epidemiology from UAB School of Public Health where she completed a two-year state-wide surveillance of cryptococcal disease in the state of Alabama funded by CDC.  Dr. Jones holds a BSN from UAB School of Nursing and a BS from Vanderbilt University/Peabody College in Education. Her nearly 30 year career has concentrated on clinical research development, implementation, evaluation, and teaching clinical researchers, including domestic and international academic and CE distance-based educational offerings and multiple publications. She was the lead developer and  educator in a 2-year NIH Fogarty Challenge Grant, “Promoting Enhanced Research Capacity for Global Health” (PERC) which was offered to 150 coordinators in 39 countries.   She has key leadership roles in professional associations, primarily: Consortium of Academic Programs in Clinical Research (CoAPCR), Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP), Drug Research Association (DIA), and International Association of Clinical Research Nurses (IACRN).  She is also faculty at UAB School of Nursing and will commence as Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Clinical Research Management Specialty in the new Masters of Applied Clinical and Preclinical Research Program at The Ohio State University School of Nursing,  in August, 2014.
